Ostrich can run up to 70 km per hour (40 miles per hour) and maintain that speed for up to 15 minutes at a time.

Ostrich eggs can weigh between 1.4 and 1.8 kgs (the equivalent of two or 2.5 dozen chicken eggs. Deb reports that to cook an Ostrich egg “over easy”, it takes about 45 minutes! Rhea eggs are slightly smaller, equivalent to approximately 12 chicken eggs.

Ostriches have three pairs of eyelids.

Ostrich, Emus and Rheas are excellent swimmers and can see for up to five miles.

Rheas were named by early European explorers. In Greek mythology, Rhea was a Titan who was the wife of Cronus and the mother of the Gods. She represented fertility and fecundity. Ostrich can live to be between 50 and 75 years old.
