Types of Turkeys

There are two main types of turkeys: wild turkeys that live in forests and domesticated turkeys that are raised for food.

The turkeys that are raised today on farms like this one have been selected for their body proportions, such as heavier breasts, their meat characteristics, such as more white meat, and better production characteristics, such as the ability to digest feed well.

Brent raises two different breeds of domesticated turkeys on his farm - the Nicholas Breed and the Hybrid Breed. Both have white feathers.
